I read a blog of someone that is just a few weeks behind me in her pregnancy and every week she writes a little update. I enjoy reading it, so I thought I would do it this week:

What's Happening with Easton?

He is about 10.5 inches long and weighs about 12.7 ounces. He moves a lot of doesn't like it when Mommy puts something on her belly. This morning I had my Bible resting on my belly when I did my quiet time and he kept moving around. As soon as I took it off my belly he stopped moving. I guess I was getting in his personal space. I am guessing he will not like to be swaddled!

What's Happening with Mommy?
Maternity clothes: I am wearing only maternity clothes. Others are too uncomfortable and regular shirts don't hide my belly anymore.
Food cravings: Fried pork skins (I know, not the best thing to eat) and Dr Pepper
Belly button in or out? In, but about to pop!
What I miss: Being able to get up from the floor easily - it is getting harder to play dollhouse with Emmykate

What I am looking forward to: Dressing EmmyKate up for Halloween - she is going to be a purple princess!

What's Happening with Daddy?

He is working hard at his job and having to work long hours for some reason. He is excited about all the baseball stuff he gets to look at on ebay.com for Easton's room!

What's Happening with EmmyKate?

Don't think I have forgotten about her in this list! How could I forget her cute little face?

She is being very 3 years old! She is getting smarter every day and there is never a day that she doesn't make us laugh with the crazy things that she says. She is quite the joker and gets her daddy's personality. The things she loves to play with right now are her Barbies, dollhouse, CareBear computer game and Lego Center computer game (it is one that has letter and number learning on it).

She gets really silly at bedtime, but has started liking me to rock her and sing to her again when she goes to sleep. This helps settle her down and her favorite song for me to sing is "Blessed Assurance". I realized last night that I don't sing the right words to it (though what I sing makes sense!) She then lays down and I have found this trick of gently rubbing her hand and she goes to sleep! I hope it keeps working and is not a fluck thing.

What a Week!

Last week was busy, busy, busy at our house. Here's a little rundown:

Monday
EmmyKate and I stayed at home all day, except to run to the vet for a few minutes to get the cat some food. We had a nice relaxing day of her staying in her PJ's all day, which is just about her favorite thing to do! Then that night I got to go to Mom's Group again. It was so nice to chat with the ladies and get to know them a little better.

Tuesday
This was the day we found out we are having a little BOY! I still can't get over it. I am so excited to get boy clothes and decorate in baseball. It is hard to stop myself from buying him cute things everytime I go into the stores.

Wednesday
EmmyKate had ballet. I am starting to think ballet is not the class for her. She gets too bored everytime the teacher has to change the music (which is quite often). She starts twirling around everytime the teacher goes to change it and then gets in trouble. I am thinking that we are definately doing cheerleading next year, because that is more of her dance style. If they had jazz dance for her age it would be perfect, but I think we will go with cheerleading since she loves watching it and is such a little daredevil.

Thursday and Friday
We stayed at home both evenings because EmmyKate had just about had enough of going places in the evenings. We just go to relax and then she went to sleep at 8:30, which is a pure miracle!!! A Pure Miracle!!!

Saturday
EmmyKate decided to get up at 6:20 (I guess her actually falling asleep at 8:30 wasn't the best thing after all). I put her in the den with a movie and she let Scott and I sleep another hour. Then she came in at 7:30 and Scott got up with her. They went to the park while I got to sleep for another hour!!! WooHoo! After I got up, Scott got all of his baseball stuff out of the closet and we started putting stuff on the shelves in Easton's room. I am so pleased with it! We still need some things for a long shelf, so if you have any old baseball stuff (the more beatup the better) that you don't want anymore, let me know!

I am selling all of EmmyKate's Paddington Bear nursery stuff on ebay, so if you know of anyone that wants it, send them there!

After that, we went to our nephew's soccer game, then to eat lunch and then back home. We ended up hanging out at home the rest of the afternoon and my sister brought over some cute outfits for Easton and a couple of shirts for EmmyKate. One is especially cute with a little skunk on it (EmmyKate loves it!) Then we ended the day with playing games at my mother-in-law's house.

Sunday
We went to church and then came home for lunch. Then EmmyKate wanted to go to Grandma's house, so we went over there for awhile. I was looking at the sale ads while we were there and saw that Old Navy had a really pretty black and white dress, so we went over there and bought it for EmmyKate to wear in a wedding in November. I was getting afraid that the dress I already had to her would be too little, so this is perfect. She can also wear this one for Christmas, so it works out well. Then we came back home, ate dinner and went to bed.

It was a busy, busy week, but we ended up feeling rested by the end of the day yesterday.

The Name (or what EK says it will be)

As you saw in the post yesterday, we are having a BOY!!! I am still in a little bit of shock. I guess I just saw us as being a girl family. I am thrilled we are having a boy and have no doubt, this boy will not be dressed in trucks/dinosauers/etc until he gets old enough to pick out his own stuff. Scott and I neither one like that kind of stuff and have never bought EmmyKate any of it, so we don't plan on doing it with Easton either.

Now, onto his name. We both liked Easton a long time ago, but when I was pregnant with EmmyKate we didn't go with it for our boy name choice. Then I came across it a few years ago and told Scott I liked it. We decided then that it would be our boy name if we ever had one.

His middle name is going to be Leslie. This is my Dad's middle name and was his grandfather's first name (so my great-grandfather). I love carrying on family names.

Then his last name will be after Scott's family (duh!), but it is neat because Scott was the last chance to carry on the Maynard name. If we never had a boy then the name would die. So now, it will carry on for at least another generation and then it will be Easton's responsibility to carry it on!

Yesterday when the technician said that it was going to be a boy, EmmyKate said "But I wanted a girl!". She was quite mad. Then when we were driving out of the parking lot I asked her if she knew what the name for the baby was. She said no and I told her it would be Easton. She said "I don't like that name! It is going to be "Car"!" I told her that was not a good name either and she said, "Well fine, then I will call him CareBear!"

So, poor little Easton, may be a 6 foot guy one day and his big sister will be calling him CareBear!

The Big Reveal...

Well, this morning we had our big ultrasound...

When we got there the secretary had double booked the ultrasounds, so we had to wait an extra amount of time.

I was really hoping that they would hurry up because I had to pee really bad by the time we got to go in.

But everything looks good and the baby is healthy as far as the ultrasound can tell.

Name Update

I think I am going to have to give up on the Mae name. Everything I think of with the name Mae in it, S doesn't like and vice versa. So I think I am going to have to give up on that and we will think of another name. We both really like Evelyn and call her Evie, but don't know if we can do that for fear of hurting a girl's feelings that we know. (We know a set of twins and 1 of Evelyn, called Evie, and the other is Kirby). So if anyone has any suggestions on old fashioned names or Southern names please let me know. I am trying not to stress about it and watch, this is probably a boy in my belly anyways. Ha! I am praying that God will give us the name that we should use at the time that we need it and am just leaving it up to Him. I know that when it is the right name it will just jump out at the both of us.

Name Suggestions!

Last night we were watching a TV show and they said the name "Annamae" on it. S looked at me and said "That's a really cute name". I started to really like it, but because of the joke they had with "Annamae" I just don't know if I could do it. We are having trouble agreeing on a girl name, so I am really excited that we have agreed on the "Mae" part.

So I am trying to think of other names that have "Mae" or "May" in it. So what are your thoughts? Here's what I have thought of so far:

Claramae or ClaraMae
Avamae or AvaMae

Also, do you like the "M" capitalized or lowercase? EK's name is 2 names put together and the "E" and the "K" are both capitalized.

I need some more names to propose to S. We were tossing around ideas last night, but none of it really jumped out at either one of us. However, I really like "Mae" or "May". So help!!!

Weird Craving

Yesterday I was driving home and I passed a church that had the following displayed on their marque:

Wednesday Night Supper 6pm

All of a sudden I had a craving for Wednesday Supper at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood, Texas. I used to eat there on Wednesday nights during college while I was working in the nursery. The dinner was only $3 and I can remember trying to round up $3 cash every week!

The part that I was craving last night was their salad and dessert. They had some kind of shredded lettuce salad that had ranch dressing and cheese mixed all together. It was soooo good. They also had this dessert that was kindof Cool-Whip with crushed Oreos mixed in Yum, yum!!!

So, I could have, and it had been a Wednesday night, I would have gone over to Coggin Avenue Baptist Church and gotten a $3 supper of salad and dessert! Very strange craving just because of seeing a sign on a church's marque!

Show Us Your Lives - Baby Gear

This week on Kelly's Korner we are writing about the baby gear that we used that is a must-have.

#1 The Pacifier

Soothie - This is what we used first on EK. She couldn't hold the others in her mouth, but this was easy for me to stick my finger into and hold for her. I tried probably 15 different kinds before we found this one that would work for her.
We later switched to Gerber Nuks when she was about 6 months old. She sucked on that thing until she was almost 3. We never left home without several of them!

#2 Cradle Swing

EK spent many, many, many nights in this swing. We finally figured out that she liked sleeping at an incline, so the swing was perfect for that.

#3 Bottle Warmer

I breastfeed for the first 6 months of her life, however I went back to work after 3 months. This came in handy for warming up the breastmilk in a bottle because you can not put breastmilk in the microwave. This time around I would love to breastfeed for a whole year. I am reading up on things to do to increase my supply and hopefully I won't have to wean this one as early.

A couple of the other things that I really used were sleepers for EK. She was born in the wintertime and would wear little sleepers pretty much all the time. They were easier to change than a big outfit.

Also, swaddling blankets that S's cousin made. They were bigger than the ones they sell in the store. Even though EK was a little baby the store ones were too small for her. The ones we had made were perfect.

This next time around I am going to try the Boppy Pillow again. It did not work for EK. It was too big or something and I wasn't comfortable, but am going to try it again. If not, then a pillow. Also, I am going to try a sling to carry the baby. I will need my hands to guide EK!

Belly Bump

Finally, another belly picture! I will be 17 weeks on Saturday and the baby should be about the size of an onion. The doctor said that the heartbeat was at 148. EK's was always between that and 151, so we shall see if it is a boy or girl!

Etsy Finds

Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment and found out that I get to have my ultrasound on October 13!!! I am so excited that we will get to find out if I have a little baby boy or girl in my belly (as long as he/she cooperates)! It had me looking on Etsy today.

Lime Green Christmas Dress

Baby Update

I haven't done an update in a little while, so here is a picture of how big the baby is. I can feel the baby move sometimes, mostly little flutters. But on Saturday, I could feel it actually move across my belly. It was a pretty cool feeling and I love it when I can start feeling stuff.

S and I both think it is a boy, but other family members think it is a girl. Our neice, that has Down's Syndrome, thinks it is a girl and she was right with EK, so we will see. I go back to the doctor in about 2 weeks and then we will get to have the ultrasound in mid-October. I can not wait!!!

You can see my belly somewhat in the pictures from the beach on the post yesterday. I need to get S to take another picture of me, so maybe I will do that tonight. People at work are started to notice now and it is fun to see their reactions!

I still don't feel bad. Sometimes I get really tired or feel a little icky, but nothing horrible. I am hungry all the time and eat pretty much all day at work. On the weekends I have to try and remember to eat more because I get headaches when I don't.

Also, I have noticed that whenever I get out in the heat for even 5 minutes I get a horrible headache that takes several hours to go away. I can not WAIT for FALL to get here!!! Please, hurry up and come!!! Here's my post on fall last year and it can not get here fast enough this year. And then, one of my favorite things about fall is because once you start eating homemade ChexMix, fall has definately arrived. Here's my Ode to ChexMix and I will definately be asking for Gigi to make me a batch this year (but with no nuts in it) because I could sit and eat a whole bag full of her stuff!

I asked EK the other night if she wanted to take a picture with me and the baby because I was wanting to get a belly shot. She took the camera and took a picture of just my stomach and said "Here's a picture of the baby!"

Then she needed a picture of just her...

And then we could take the belly shot. Here is the baby at 10 1/2 weeks. This was at the end of the day, so it is some bloat, but my mom says this is going to be a big baby. I hope she is wrong and that I am just getting bigger earlier because it is the 2nd child.

Current Cravings...

This week I have been feeling much better (not that I felt horrible before). I think sleeping until 9am on both Saturday and Sunday did wonders for my body. Right now my food cravings are:

• Cheese-Itz
• Cherry Limeades from Sonic
• Limes from Sonic drink
• Jolly Ranchers (I have already had about 5 today)
• Fried Calamari from Buca de Beppo (We will be going there this weekend! Yeah!!!)
• Mashed Potatoes and gravy with chicken strips from Hartz Chicken

Do you kind of see a theme? It is mostly things that we don't have to cook at home and also things that are salty! I can't wait to eat the calamari this weekend!

And don't worry, I do still have another child and I will be posting some pictures of her tomorrow!

Yuck and Something Really Cool!

I have not really had morning sickness with this pregnancy. With EK I felt nauseous a couple of nights, but nothing that a little popsicle couldn't help. With this pregnancy I am more tired, which I am pretty sure is because I have a 3 year old that won't let me sleep whenever I want! When I get tired, I also feel nauseous (nothing really bad and I haven't gotten sick, but just feel yuck!) So, most days at work I don't feel so great. However, I have started noticing that when I stare at the computer too long I really start to feel nauseous. Do you think they would just let me stop using the computer for the next couple of months??? Highly unlikely, since everything I do is on the computer. So until then I will just suck on my Altoids and Jolly Ranchers!

And I just saw this on someone's blog. I think I just might do it in our front room! I love old stuff and sentimental things and so this would fit into both of those categories!
