Clomid Here We Come...

Last week I received a call from my doctor and she told me that I was not ovulating, so that is what is causing the problems. So, yesterday I went in and got my prescription and plan of action from the doctor and I am taking the lowest dose of Clomid. We are hoping that we get pregnant within the first 3 months. After that, then my doctor would increase the dosage amount. With each increase, there is a higher risk of having twins. I am so afraid of having twins because there are 1 set of twins on each my mom's side and my dad's side. There is only 1 set on each side that I know of, but you never know, I could have them. I know that if God gave us twins I would be happy just because I would know that we were having a baby, but I will also be freaked out for various reasons!

So I am taking Clomid for 5 days and then something should happen after that. S has been so good and patient with me through all of this. At the times when I just want to cry, he reminds me to just wait and it will happen. It is sometimes hard for me to relax about it because I want another little one so very badly and it just makes me mad when I see other people that can't even take care of there kids and they can get pregnant! S also has really helped with EK lately with some sleeping issues we are having and he has been getting in there and trying to get her to go to sleep. That gives me a huge break from having to fight with her for 2 hours to go to sleep. We are trying some new techniques tonight, so we will see if the 3 of us can get to bed before 10:30 tonight! Thanks so much honey for being such a good Daddy!!!

Update on Life

Well, this week has been another one of those weeks! I haven't shared in this whole non-pregnancy thing in a while, but as of Monday I was 2 weeks late and yet all tests pointed towards the negative. So finally after hearing 2 more pregnancy announcements on Monday and being very down in the dumps about them, I decided I would quite doing the waiting game and call my doc. I went in on Tuesday for some blood work and before she even ran the workup, she said "Yep, you are having some hormone issues". So finally, I don't feel like I am a completely crazy, but there is probably something actually wrong and we can get this fixed. So now I am on some lovely medicine for the next 10 days that is making me want to wring S's neck, but after that I will go back and see what the bloodwork showed. She said that it is most likely 1 of 3 things, but that the 3 things were very normal to have issues with. I told S last night that at least the 1 good thing about me not being pregnant yet is that when we go to Schlitterbahn in a few weeks with my family I will actually get to do all the fun rides instead of sitting in the baby pool with EK. Last summer she loved all the fast stuff at the Galveston Schlitterbahn, so I know she is really going to love it this year at the original Schlitterbahn!!!

So, after getting this good news (I know it does sound weird to hear that it is good to have something wrong, but it is comforting to me that at least my doctor did not think I was crazy and tell me to just wait it out, but rather is working to figure out a way to get us a pregnancy), EK did not have a good night. On Tuesday night she was awake for much of the night. At first I was frustrated at her because I was sleepy from the medicine I am taking, but after going potty twice during that time and both times she had a slight look of pain on her face, I figured she had another UTI. So Wednesday I took her to the doc early and of course, the little stinker would not tee-tee in a cup. We finally had to go and play at Mimi's school until she decided she needed to go. And of course, she has a full blown UTI! The doctor is wanting to run tests on her kidneys, but I just don't know if I want to do all of that just yet. I really feel like she never fully got over the other one because it has only been about 2 weeks since she had it, the first one was probably going on for a while and we had not known it, and the doctor only had her on medicine for 5 days last time as opposed to the regular 10 days. I know definately that I am not doing the IV test, but can't decide whether we should do the ultrasound or we should just wait a little while and see if this comes up again.

So, that is our week in a nutshell. It has been a week full of illness/nonpregnancy stuff. I am praying every night that the medicines we are on will do what they are supposed to do and that God will take care of all of this. Hopefully next week will bring some better news in the Maynard household!

P.S. We did end up with a free HDTV last night. S went to deliver some furniture yesterday and the customer was getting a new TV, so he asked if S wanted the old one. It is a Sony TV and is extremely nice!

Our Life This Week

Well, on Tuesday as you know we had major flooding here in Houston, so we had the day off. Whenever we got home from my mom's house, we found that the house was very hot. We looked and the A/C was running, but there was no cool air coming out. So S called a neighbor to come and look at it and he said that water had gotten into the outside A/C unit and had killed the whole thing. So we were all set to pay him $1500 to fix it. He said that he couldn't do it until Saturday, so until then we are sleeping with 5 fans in our room and 2 in EK's (her room gets colder than ours!) It is really not that bad and I haven't broken a sweat yet over this!

On my way to work on Wednesday I called my mom to tell her what was happening with our A/C and she happened to mention it to her co-worker. It was suggested that since we have flood insurance that we call our agent. We found out that it should be covered!!!!! I am waiting now for an adjuster to call me and come and look at everything, but please pray that this will be covered. I would much prefer to pay $500 and get a really good A/C unit rather than pay $1500 and not get a really great one. At least while we are at work and day care we get some nice cool air!!!

Our neighbors are also complaining because their garage was flooded during the rain the other day. They think it is our fault because we put down the sod last month. However, they have this garage in their backyard after an extra driveway (might I add that neither should be there). So somehow I don't think this is all our fault. We shall see how all this pans out.

Plus, this week is the dreaded "wait" time! Ugh, and last night a mom at EK's dance announced to me that she was pregnant. I just wanted to say, is there some sign on me that says "The week I am waiting to find out, could at least 1 person tell me they are pregnant!!!" This happened last month and now it is happening again this month. I am pretty sure that I am not because I started reading "Taking Charge of your Fertility" and according to everything I didn't ovulate. That plus, the test I took this morning because I am a day late was negative, so I am taking that to be a pretty sure sign that I am not! So I guess it is just another month of waiting...

Make sure you keep scrolling because I posted several things today and one of them in a really yummy recipe!

Worship While I'm Waiting

This week I have been in a funk. It is has been slow at work because the computer system that I use to do everything was down and so I have had literally nothing to do. Add that to the fact that it is supposed to be "that time of the month" and it has made it for a lovely week in the Maynard household. I am currently waiting and waiting and waiting. I am just waiting around this week, which has made the slow work days even slower. Nothing is happening and my selfish nature gets mad when other people announce they are pregnant after trying for all of 1 month and here I am after 8 months and still waiting! I want things to happen and I want them to happen right now. Just get this month over with and let's move on...

A girl from college stated it perfectly on her blog a month of so ago:

I wish I could remember what magazine I read this article in but it talked
about how during trials of infertility you start wishing your life away 30 days
at a time. You have your cycle, you try to get pregnant, then you wait, and if
your cycle starts you start wishing away the next 30 days and doing it all over
again. I thought this description was so perfect. When you're trying to get
pregnant there is a lot of waiting and waiting and then when you're cycle starts
the waiting starts again!

That is exactly what this is and I just have to remember that though this is not in my time, that God has it all in His hands and that I just need to wait. There is a song on the radio right now that is from the movie Fireproof that is by John Waller that I am trying really hard to listen to:

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait
I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord

I know in the whole scheme of things that 8 months is really not that long. There are some people that wait years to get pregnant. I know that I do have EK and so I should be grateful for that. Don't get me wrong, I am completely and utterly thankful for that little girl in my life and there is not a day that goes by that I don't thank God for her, however I want another little someone to go with her. I know I need to step back and not allow my selfish nature to take over, but sometimes that is hard.

Sorry you all had to listen to whining today, but since I use this as my journaling too this is what you all got. Hope my weekend is a little happier since we are painting our house and I can't wait to see the transformation!

Blessings in My Life

**Updated

You know, it is really easy to focus on all of the bad things that are happening around us and in our lives that sometimes we just don't see the good things that are happening. This week was full of blessings for us, so I wanted to document them to remember when I start having a bad day.

1. Last week S went to deliver some furniture to a customer. While there he noticed 2 antique dressers and remarked on their beauty. The lady said that she was selling them for $350 a piece. She emailed S pictures of them so that I could look at them and see if it was something that I wanted for our bedroom since I gave my dresser to EK when we redid her room. (Speaking of that, I need to put up pictures of her "new" room). Anyways, we decided that even though we both loved the dressers we just couldn't spend the money on them right now since we just had to fix the pipe/tree situation. Well, on Tuesday S went back to the lady's house to fix the piece of furniture he had delivered. He told her that we really loved them, but just couldn't spend the money on something that we didn't really need right now. She asked him if we really loved them and he said that we did. She told him "Well, as long as you promise me that you won't take them just to resell them, I will give them to you". She said that she could tell by the way he was touching them that he was not going to harm them and really liked them. So we got 2 dressers for FREE!!!! I don't know what we did to deserve such a blessing from God, but we are truly thankful for these beautiful pieces of furnitures. Now, just take a look at them. My mom told me that she hates me because they are so beautiful. Thanks Mom!!!

2. Since last Friday I have been praying for Harper. My mom, sisters and I are obsessed with this little baby that we do not even know. It is so neat to watch so many people love on this family that they do not even know outside of the computer. A praise from this morning was that Harper is now down to 43% oxygen. Once she gets down to 40% they will start weaning her off some of the medicines that she is on and she will begin to open her eyes.
3. With our new President, we also got some new Presidential kids. I read something this morning that made me teary eyed. Barbara and Jenna Bush had written a note to Obama's girls. It is really sweet and tells them to remember that no matter what happens, that he is still their Daddy. Click here to get to the letter that they wrote for the girls.
4. I have been down in the dumps this week about not getting pregnant. I have had to remind myself that so many women have to wait years and years to just have their very first child and I have been blessed with an awesome 3 year old. Even though I am not getting pregnant on my time, at least not being pregnant has given me the freedom to be able to do fun stuff with EK and play with her in a way that I couldn't if there was a belly in the way. One of her favorite positions to fall asleep is to lay on my tummy. I was thinking last night that if I was pregnant we would have to give that up. So for now, I will just be content in letting her lay on my tummy and try not to get so worried about when the next baby will appear.
Those are just the things that I can think of off the top of my head, but there are always many, many more. What is something that has blessed you this week?
** I just read this on someone's website and it is sure to bless you. It is written by John Piper and sums up what has been happening these last few weeks:
