Aunt Melee: Goodbye, but Not for Long

Today my sister (EmmyKate and Easton's Aunt Melee), moved to Lubbock with her new hubby. We are hoping and praying that they will be back in 3 years when her hubby is done with his degree at Tech. If not, I don't know what we are going to do because right now we are just pretending that she is away at college.

We have never, ever lived apart except for college. The 3 of us girls have always lived in Houston. We don't know what to do with one of us being away! Melanie moved home from college the day that EmmyKate was born, so there is a certain bond that the 2 of them have. Don't get me wrong, EmmyKate loves her Aunt Kicken, Aunt Lori and Aunt Venesa too, but Aunt Melee took care of her from 4 months old and she was like her second little Mommy!

EmmyKate and Aunt Melee had a fun day on Wednesday (and I will post the pictures later) where it was just the 2 of them. She is very excited that we can talk to Aunt Melee on the computer, but we cried yesterday when we had to say goodbye (but only for a little while!)

Aunt Melee went to the rodeo with us for EmmyKate's first trip

And she helped her pet the rabbits at the rodeo

I had to go to Washington, D.C. for a conference 1 time and Melanie came along with me. We had so much fun!

And here they are on EmmyKate's 3rd birthday. I am already trying to think of how we can do her party so that Aunt Melee can be here (maybe we will have to celebrate her 5 1/2 year birthday and do it during the summer!)

EK's Best Friends

There are three little girls on our street that EmmyKate loves to play with. I will refer to them as K, A and H. She is obsessed with them, especially K and A!!! Every day when I pick her up from school she asks if she can play with them. A has a little attitude and we don't like her playing with her very much, but K and A are sisters so we can't limit 1 and not the other. Needless to say, EmmyKate has developed a little attitude and we are trying to break that quickly! With all that to say, this was our conversation last night at bedtime:

Mommy: EmmyKate, tomorrow we are going to take Easton to Pop's house and then I will take you to school. Then Mimi is going to pick you up and then Mommy and Daddy will come and pick you and Easton up so that we can go camping!

EmmyKate: Yeah!!! Camping!!!

(Serious thinking.....)

EmmyKate: Mommy, and then we can come home and play with K and A!!!

Mommy: (laughing) Yes, then you can play with K and A...
