Ever since Scott had his car stolen we have been living without a credit card. It has really been a blessing in disguse. There are no extra purchases just because we can put it on a credit card.
So our goal this year is to really stick to our budget. I am trying really hard to only spend $60 at the grocery store each week. Anything over that will be put into a stockpile of sorts and then we will use it at the end of the month to buy some bigger things at Sam's. Hopefully this will make the grocery bill even cheaper.
So here is what we are going to try and do for our budget:
Allow ourselves $150 a week for buying and then $50 for gas
$60 Groceries
$20 Target/Walmart/CVS/Sam's purchases (these are things that wouldn't be bought with groceries)
$30 Date Night/Go out to Eat
$30 Fun/Clothes/Extra items
$5 Haircuts (the thought is that by the time someone needs a haircut we will have the cash)
$5 Gifts (same thought as the haircuts)
$50 Gasoline
Hopefully we will not use up all the money in each of these categories each week and then it can carry over. I'll let you know how this is going. I am sure once Easton is born, this will change slightly because of extra diapers, food and formula (if breatfeeding doesn't work for him).
Oh, and last night I made us some cute little envelopes to keep in my wallet to try and keep us on track. Click here to see the instructions.
