First Trip to the Beach

We took the kids to the beach yesterday and they had soooo much fun. I have decided that I really, really want to take them to Destin or somewhere else in Florida next summer.

We took EmmyKate about 2 years ago but it was very impromtu and we had no sand castle building supplies, so I guess you would kindof count this as her first trip to the beach too.

Summer Fun Has Begun

On Sunday afternoon we went over to Mimi and Pop's house for a barbeque and swim. EmmyKate loves the water...

Easton, not so much...

GiGi and PePaw were able to come over

And Kicken and EmmyKate had way too much fun with the camera

Easton was lovin' him some of Pop's homemade ice cream (and that other dessert was sooo yummy. It was Cherry Cola Brownies)

Like I said before, he is climbing on everything!

He wouldn't swim in the pool when it had water, but he would "swim" while we were draining it

He was cracking himself up!

Weekend of Rest

This weekend was wonderful. Scott and I had a little "stay-cation" and it was very much needed. We left the kids in the hands of my mom and Aunt Kicken. Aunt Kicken has now decided that she has to get one of those breathing monitors for her kids' cribs (when she has kids!) because she obsessively checked on Easton about 8 times in 30 minutes to make sure he was still breathing! I told her not to worry, I do the same thing sometimes. It is just a mom thing!

So, anyways, on Friday evening I ordered Aunt Kicken, Uncle David and EmmyKate some pizzas and we were on our way to Downtown! We stayed at Hotel Icon. It was our second time to stay there and it did not disappoint. We walked downtown to see what there was to eat and ended up at the Flying Saucer. I was thinking it was the Flying Saucer that is famous for pies, but instead it was the Flying Saucer that is famous for beers. Oh, well, we had fun anyways. It was nice to just sit and not have to worry about anything. We then went back to the hotel and were asleep by 10:15pm. What partiers we are! I woke up at 7am and thought, "There is no way I am waking up now". I closed my eyes and opened them back up at 9:45am; just in time to go down to the lobby and order some breakfast.

It was not the most wonderful breakfast, so we walked to CVS to get some drinks and snacks. Then we rode the Metro LightRail back to the hotel and Scott watched college football while I took a 3 hour nap! Yes, 3 hours!!! I could have slept longer, but I felt guilty for sleeping that long. I knew Scott was probably getting tired of sitting there watching me sleep, so we went to Macy's and bought an outfit for each of us to wear to dinner.

We were getting hungry by that point (it was about 6pm) and our dinner reservations were not until 8:45pm. We decided to go across the street and get an appetizer to tide us over until dinner. By the time we finished our snack there was just enough time to go back up and get ready for dinner and relax a little with some more football and reading. Scott told me about 15 times thank you for letting him watch football on our weekend away. I told him it was no problem because I got to take long naps, baths and read. It was a win-win for everyone!!!

Once we were ready in our new outfits, we went downstairs and had the shuttle drive us to dinner at Brennan's. Scott made an excellent choice on the restaurant! We had never been there before, but we will definately be going back! For a "fancy" restaurant it was not expensive at all (for the 2 of us it was $100). The food was wonderful and I woke up the next morning hungry for their Bananas Foster. Yum, yum, I can taste it now!

We were asleep by about 11:00pm on Saturday night and woke up around 9am. Glorious feeling to have a full night's sleep! We headed home to find that our A/C was out and my Nana was back in the hospital. Welcome back to reality!!! But we did get to see Aunt Melee since she was in the for weekend. We all went up to see Nana together and she was looking better that day (she has cancer and a recent stroke and is not doing well right now)

So, that was our wonderful relaxing weekend. On Sunday night Scott and I kept asking eachother "Can't we just go back again!" So thank you Mimi and Aunt Kicken for watching the kiddos!

And thank you Scott for taking your wife on a much needed vacation!

A Little Outdoors

This weekend we went camping in Fayetteville, Tx with Scott's family (like the entire family). It was so much fun. EmmyKate ran from 7am-10pm on Saturday. She only asked me for something 1 time and the rest of the time she wanted to be with her great-aunts. It was great and I was able to just focus on taking care of Easton. She was also a little angel this weekend and did not complain or argue about anything! It was like heaven on Earth! I will put up some more pictures tomorrow.

Coloring at 7am on the picnic benches (see that little trail at the top of the picture; it led to the lake!)

EmmyKate and Uncle Steve looking for doodlebugs

Playing with the doodlebugs (she collected these all weekend and they were everywhere!)

Admiring the lake with Aunt Ivy

Corbin and Uncle Neal playing a game

Bailey (with Grandpa being goofy in the background)

Playing Go Fish with Stephanie and Bailey (look at EmmyKate's face-it cracks me up!)

Fishing with Christina

Roasting marshmallows - Yummy, yummy!

A Really, Really Fun Date

On Saturday, I went to look at wedding dresses for Melee and so Scott and EmmyKate had a "date". She loves it when they have dates because they get to go someplace. She told me on Friday night that she and Daddy were going to go on a really, really fun date and it was going to be somewhere new. So the pressure was on Scott!

They ended up at the Butterfly Museum. Scott said that she pretty much flew (no pun intended!) through the exhibit, and then had lots of fun running and climbing outside on the sculptures.
